This page explains what cookies are, how this website uses them, and how you can control them. It sits alongside the privacy policy, which covers personal data more broadly.
What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you come back, the site can read that file to remember things, like the fact you've already made a choice about cookies, or to count a visit for analytics. Cookies can't run programs or carry viruses; they're just small pieces of information.
Some cookies are set by this website itself ("first-party"), and some are set by other services the site uses, such as Google or Meta ("third-party"). Cookies also differ in how long they last: a "session" cookie is deleted when you close your browser, while a "persistent" cookie stays until it expires or you delete it. Some tools use related storage (such as "local storage") that works in a similar way, and this policy treats those the same as cookies.
How this website uses cookies
This website keeps cookie use to a minimum. Beyond the few that are strictly necessary, and the cookies that run the live chat when it loads, nothing that tracks you loads until you agree to it through the cookie banner. The cookies fall into these groups:
Strictly necessary
Always on
These make the site work and remember the cookie choices you make. They include the cookie consent banner's own record of your preferences and basic protection that helps keep the contact forms free of automated spam. They don't track you and can't be switched off, because the site can't function properly without them.
Live chat
Loads with the chat
Our live chat is provided by Crisp. When the chat loads it may set cookies or use similar local storage to run the chat window, keep your conversation together as you move between pages, and recognise an ongoing conversation if you come back. These support the chat feature you're using rather than tracking you for analytics or advertising. The privacy policy and Crisp's own privacy terms explain this in more detail.
Analytics
Only with your consent
These help us understand which pages are useful and where the site could be better, for example Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. They only load after you accept analytics cookies in the banner. (Cloudflare Web Analytics is also used, but it's cookieless and doesn't track individuals, so it runs without needing consent.)
Advertising
Only with your consent
If you accept advertising cookies, tags such as the Meta (Facebook) Pixel may load to measure how adverts perform and record when a quote form is submitted. These only load after you accept advertising cookies, and never by default.
Managing your cookie preferences
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept all cookies, reject the non-essential ones, or choose category by category. You can change your mind at any time. Reopen the preferences panel using the button below, or the small cookie icon in the corner of the screen.
You can also control cookies in your browser settings, as most browsers let you block or delete cookies, though blocking the strictly necessary ones may stop parts of the site working as intended.
Changes to this policy
If the tools this website uses change, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised. It's worth checking back occasionally so you know what's in use.
